At Kasih Co-op, we’re passionate about preserving the centuries-old tradition of batik—a technique that’s been passed down through generations of artisans in Indonesia. Recently, we documented the intricate batik-making process in a video to give you an insider's look at how these beautiful fabrics come to life.
The process starts with skilled artisans applying hot wax to fabric in carefully designed patterns. Once the wax sets, the fabric is dyed, with the wax resisting the dye to create stunning designs. This method can be repeated with different colors to add layers of detail. After the dyeing is complete, the wax is removed, revealing the final pattern. Each piece is a true work of art, made by hand from start to finish.
We invite you to watch the video and experience the beauty of batik for yourself. Each product at Kasih Co-op carries the story of the artisan who made it, preserving not just a craft, but a cultural legacy.
