Here to share you my favorite fried rice recipe that I always make at home
Indonesian Fried Rice Nasi Goreng Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cloves of garlic
2 cloves of shallots
2 red curly chilies, sliced (optional)
1 tsp of sambal belacan or more to taste (shrimp paste chili)
3 cups cooked day old Rice
3 egg
2 spring onions, sliced
2 tbsp kecap manis or sweet soy sauce (my go to is ABC Kecap Manis)
4 tsp fish sauce (or if you don't have, you can substitute with soy sauce)
¼ tsp Pepper
40 gr Cabbage, sliced - optional
Protein of choice:
5 oz of chicken breast cubed OR bacon cut up OR shrimp OR sausage OR Tofu
1 tbs oil
1 tbs kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
Instruction:
- Marinate protein of choice with sweet soy sauce and oil
- Puree the garlic, shallots and oil, blend until smooth. OR when I'm in a rush, I would just diced garlic and shallots
- Stir fry garlic and shallot with 1 tbs of oil
- Sautee until fragrant. Add curly red chilies if using
- Mix egg in a bowl and add the eggs to pan.
- Add protein of choice stir well. If using chicken/shrimp/bacon, then stiry fry until 3/4 cook
- Add rice, stir well then add fish sauce, pepper, sweet soy sauce, cabbage and stir well. Add sambal belacan to taste - start with 1 tsp of sambal and adjust to taste
- Turn off fire, add spring onion and mix well
- Fried rice is ready to be served. Typically served with cucumber or fried egg or chicken satay
